![]() ![]() Kim tells Dave that “Frank means nothing to me”, and tells Frank “Dave means nothing to me”. When Dave tells Biff that Kim doesn’t love Frank, Biff says “Maybe not, but she loves what comes with him!”, and when Dave suggests to Kim they elope, saying he doesn’t care about “the money and the big house”, it’s clear that Kim cares about those things! Nick tells him he’s “just a bit of rough” for Kim. Ouch!ĭave can’t say he wasn’t warned and that there were no signs this was coming. I didn’t get that line at the time as I was only a kid, but now I can see how funny it is!ĭave says he loves Kim and he’s sorry Frank had to find out like that – Kim, however, says this was the first time, Dave came on to her, and that the baby she’s carrying is Frank’s! (I mean, it is as it turns out, but Kim isn’t aware of this at the time!) Dave is shocked, Frank tells him “You’re nothing, you’re just a bit of rough!”Īfterwards, an angry Dave says to Kim he’d given her everything, to which Kim replies “In your case, ‘everything’ doesn’t amount to an awful lot!”. He opens the bedroom door saying “What do you call this, Dave? Overtime?”. The technical landlord, also has keys to it, and one night he lets himself in, goes up the stairs while Kim and Dave are in bed. ![]() Kim had set up a cottage as a love nest for her and Dave. The episode first broadcast on Thursday the 8th of February 1996 included a very memorable moment. Of course, he doesn’t listen, and of course it doesn’t end well for him. She tells Frank “This desire for vengeance is just a passport to suicide, what does it matter if you win if you’re dead?”, and why does he need revenge anyway – “You’ve got enough money to last the rest of your life, just walk away from it!”. Zoe, on the other hand, thinks it’ll all end badly. Chris wanted venegence, but wanted to go in right away. Everyone knows what’s going on, including Frank! He was playing the long game, making Kim and Dave think he was oblivious, until the right moment. ![]() The Frank/Kim/Dave/Kathy love square was a huge storyline, and it builds up, boil over and starts back again several times. Some random thoughts about it from around 1995-1997. As with before with the lockdown and the local lockdowns, I had more time to check out Classic Emmerdale, a chance to revisit a programme I grew up watching, so here’s ![]()
